Participation on TCA is structured into four clear categories, each with defined roles, responsibilities, and levels of access. This clarity is intentional. It allows trust, accountability, and growth to be built step by step.
The Four Participation Categories
1. Contributors
People who add value by sharing places, culture, and local knowledge.Contributors help grow Africa’s tourism map by submitting:
- Destinations and attractions
- Cultural sites and events
- Routes, landmarks, and points of interest
- Local insights that improve discovery and accuracy
Who can be a contributor?
- Locals
- Researchers

What contributors can do?
- Create a contributor profile
- Submit locations and tourism-related information
- Build a public contribution history
Certification
Contributors may operate without certification initially.
Certified Contributors are contributors whose submissions have been reviewed and consistently found accurate by TCA.
Certification increases visibility, credibility, and future recognition on the platform.
TCA treats certification as a mark of information trustworthiness — not a commercial or transactional guarantee.
2. Service Providers
People and businesses offering tourism-related services.
Service Providers include:
- Tour guides (location-specific or regional)
- Tour operators with packages
- Hotels and accommodation providers
- Caterers and hospitality services
- Transport and experience providers
What service providers can do
- Create service listings
- Display pricing, availability, and coverage areas
- Be discovered by travellers and partners
- Build ratings and credibility over time
Verification levels
Non-Verified Providers
- Can list services
- Limited visibility
- No escrow protection
Verified Providers
- Go through identity, business, and location checks
- Pay a verification fee
- Eligible for escrow-supported transactions
- Higher trust and visibility
Verification on TCA is not cosmetic.

3. Consumers (Tourists, Travellers & Overlanders)
People who want to explore, book, and experience Africa.
Consumers include:
- Independent travellers
- Overlanders
- Tourists seeking guides, services, or packages
- Individuals booking experiences or accommodations
What consumers can do
- Create a booking profile
- Discover verified and non-verified providers
- Book services and experiences
- Choose secure payment options when available
Account and transaction checks
- Basic checks may be required for certain transactions
- Higher-value bookings may require additional confirmation
- These checks exist to reduce fraud and protect all parties
TCA is designed to reduce the risks commonly faced when booking tourism services in Africa.
4. Visitors
People who are exploring without committing.
Visitors can:
- Browse destinations and services
- Learn about tourism opportunities across Africa
- Understand how TCA works
Visitors are not required to create an account.
However:
- Visitors cannot submit content
- Visitors cannot offer services
- Visitors cannot transact
This keeps exploration open while protecting the platform.
